Atoka Reservoir

Atoka Reservoir, located north of Atoka, is a large and vital water source known for its natural beauty and recreational opportunities. Originally constructed as a reservoir to supply water to Lake Stanley Draper further north, it has become a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. With its expansive waters surrounded by wooded areas, the reservoir offers a more rugged and scenic environment compared to smaller local lakes.

Fishing is a major draw at Atoka Reservoir, with anglers targeting species like largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, and sunfish. The vast size of the reservoir provides plenty of room for boating, kayaking, and canoeing, making it an ideal spot for those who enjoy water-based activities. Additionally, the surrounding areas are suitable for hiking and wildlife observation, allowing visitors to experience the tranquility and natural diversity of southeastern Oklahoma.

The lake is owned by a public trust called “Lake Atoka Reservation Association” consisting of mayors of Oklahoma City and Atoka, and other appointed members.

The primary boat ramp and fishing pier is located at: 34.4517, -96.0767

A developed campground, picnic area, and boat ramp is located at: 34.5414, -96.0412

For fishing and boating rules, contact State of Oklahoma, Department of Wildlife Conservation (580) 513-0081 or (580) 513-4823.
